AH&P CORPORATE OBJECTIVES In pursuing our vision and undertaking our mission, the AH&P Division aims to adhere to the following objectives:- 1.To ensure that the Government is provided with high quality policy advice on livestock issues and the resources on which they depend. 2.To formulate specific livestock sectoral policies and develop programmes aimed at promoting the sustainable development of livestock industries for potential exports. 3.To be strategic and consultative when providing advisory services to ensure efficient production enhancing food and income security. 4.To promote and facilitate jointly funded Government/Private sector market focused livestock research and development programmes leading to the development of cost – effective technology. 5.To attract greater investment into cost – effective value adding and vertically integrated livestock related activities and associated infrastructure development. 6.To provide animal health, regulatory and technical services in order to maintain and improve the current animal health status and prevent the introduction of exotic diseases. 7.Increase consumer confidence.
AH&P CORE BUSINESS 1.To provide knowledge and other livestock related services to livestock industries, processors and distributors, importers and exporters, smallholder livestock farmers and clients necessary for the adoption of best practices. 2.To provide three – way communication link between rural communities, processors and Government. 3.To provide advice to Government on the development of livestock sectoral policies and programmes aimed at promoting the sustainable development of livestock industries. 4.To provide animal health, regulatory and technical services to maintain and improve current animal health status and prevent the introduction of exotic pests and diseases. 5.To provide appropriate research facilities to address livestock industry problems.
AH&P PURPOSE Our purpose is to serve the livestock industries, livestock farmers, small pet owners, importers and exporters and other stakeholders’ needs by promoting the economic development of Fiji’s agricultural development and sustainable use of resource on which they are based.
